Can I play Final Fantasy Xiii without having played any of the previous games?
My question above is two-pronged. I have NEVER played any Final Fantasy Game, and have NO IDEA what the storyline is but I have heard that is a highly acclaimed title with long record of games from many years ago. I want to play it buy like other series (especially games made by Asian developers) such as Resident Evil, and Metal Gear Solid the story goes back way too far for me to play the previous games. Can the story be understood with ZERO knowledge of Final Fantasy? Should I get it not knowing anything?
Just so I can maybe get a basic picture of the storyline, could someone give me the story up to FF XII (not including the latest one since I want to play it) in a nutshell?

Well technically, you could play almost any of them without ever playing another. The only exceptions are final fantasy 7 and final fantasy 10. FF 7 has a game, then a movie that take place after it, than a 3rd person shooter that take place after the movie. Then they made a game for the psp that take place before final fantasy 7 for ps. SO to play 7 u would need ot play all of those. Number 10(Final Fantasy X) is cool, and it has a sequel call Final fantasy X-2. tkae after that game. But as for the rest of them, they odnt follow a giant plot, just different one. Normally the only things that are the same is th emoney being known as gil. There is some time of summoning creature usually known as a gf, aeon, or whatever they decide to call them. Almost all contain characters named biggs and wedge. If u are wanting this game, I would rent it first,a nd if u rly get into it, buy it. But ur no tmissing and plot line or naything, as long as u play all the game
